Continuing the Meeting of Researchers in Bioethics in Lusophony 2025, the first conference of the program was given by Professor Ana Sofia Carvalho, one of the most influential names in bioethics in Portugal and in the Lusophone space.

Under the provocative title “Ethical Concerns and Concerns”, Ana Sofia Carvalho shared a deep and disturbing reflection on major contemporary dilemmas in bioethics — from precision medicine to personalized medicine and the use of artificial intelligence.

This intervention, dense and intimate, set the tone for the Meeting: a bioethics made up of difficult questions and critical openness to the world.

Professor Ana Sofia Carvalho is a researcher, university lecturer and author of reference in the field of bioethics, having held leadership positions in national and international institutions. Her voice has been essential in the construction of a humanistic, dialogic bioethics committed to human rights.
